Engagement and interaction are core aspects of the workshop flow. No music knowledge is needed to gain an understanding of how  jazz principles and practices can promote creativity, strengthen leadership capacity, and elevate inclusive team synergy.


The half-day and full-day workshop experience begins with a 10-12 minute online Pre-Workshop Assessment - details below which analyzes work-style preference. A team matrix maps the entire group's synergy, from structural and design roles to technical and conceptual, and harmonizes operational styles with the roles and responsibilities of the jazz rhythm section (bass, drums, piano).


Then we get to the workshop core: Jazz Principles and Practices. The facilitators move through the fundamental values and foundation of jazz music, drawing out the analogies, framing the concepts, leading the exercises. Through tailored workshops, participants will explore:

Live Jazz musicians  are a critical part of the workshop to demonstrate the jazz principles and practices and engage with workshop participants in their group exercises.

Intro, half-day, full-day 



The JLP Workshop, with a live jazz band, provides models for leadership excellence and superior group collaboration. 


Intro Workshop with Live Band (60-90 minutes)

Introduction to the JLP leadership and team development model with live trio.


Half-Day Workshop with Live Band (3.5 hours) 

This interactive presentation covers two jazz principles and three jazz practices, with demonstrations from a jazz trio, workbook writing prompts, work-style assessment, large and small group exercises and discussion.


Full-Day Workshop with Live Band (7 hours)

The full-day experience presents the full Jazz Leadership Project model: four jazz principles and six jazz practices, with demonstrations from a jazz trio, large and small group exercises, individual and team work-style assessment, workbook writing exploration, and in-depth discussion.

A 10-12 minute online assessment connects an individual's operational approach to common work functions. Next, in our half-day and full-day workshops, we display each participant’s individual style within a Team Workstyle Matrix. This matrix demonstrates how organizational and team roles align and identifies both developmental gaps and potentials.



During the workshop we go even deeper, braiding organizational roles with the musical roles and functions in a jazz rhythm section—the fundamental unit of the jazz ensemble. The second image to the left is a sample Jazz-Workplace Matrix from a recent workshop.
