The jlp experience

your team already has talent. but...

Silos slow decisions down. Meetings default to the loudest voice in the room. Good ideas die because no one feels safe pushing back or taking the lead. The JLP Experience engages your team with a live jazz ensemble to work through such breakdowns, then brings the solutions and practices to address them.

how is the jlp experience different?

JLP workshops don't explain listening, trust, and productive tension: you watch them happen between musicians, feel the subtle shift forward and the glance that means "your turn," and then find yourselves doing the same thing as a team.

Most leadership programs teach concepts. Teams walk out with new vocabulary and the same habits. JLP works differently. We put people in a live, high-stakes creative situation, playing and problem-solving alongside professional jazz musicians, where the usual scripts don’t apply. Old patterns surface fast. And because the stakes are real but the environment is safe, teams can name those patterns and practice new ones on the spot, not in a debrief three weeks later.

No musical background is required. What’s required is the willingness to listen, take a risk, and recover when something doesn’t go as planned, which is precisely the muscle most teams haven’t built.

Benefits & Applications

We brought them in for an interactive workshop, and the inclusion of a live jazz trio was a highly creative and effective way to illustrate complex collaborative concepts like 'Ensemble Mindset' and deep listening. The session was phenomenal for fostering trust and cohesion among my leads, and it lent itself perfectly to our executive small group setting.
